Poem for #3

The lights turned out for nap time
and we covered ourselves in blankets

My head laid on my pillow
I turn my body towards your face

You show me yours, I show mine
We are too young to really get it

Talk to me very low
I show you what’s behind my lace

We are in big trouble now
The teacher flashes the lights on fast

You are sent to the office
I wait and cry as they call my mom

I can hear the beatings - pow
How long will all this punishment last?

I’m small in this edifice
I can’t figure out what we did wrong

Ten years pass and we grow up
Now I really want to play the game

We fantasize together
Leaving the country on a sail boat

I will need a backup
Because you don’t look at me the same

I think you were braver
When we played show and tell long ago
